The Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets movie was directed by the director of the first movie, Chris Columbus. He did a fabulous job of making this movie a lot darker for his audience and this movie is more to the needs of adults than kids.

The movie follows the book pretty closely but to add to the entire feel of it the director has quite a few well-developed visuals which actually take your breath away. Some of the set-ups almost give you the creeps and look extremely realistic. In addition, the young actors have definitely improved on their acting skills and put forth a far better performance.

The movie also has some new characters that play their roles really well. Two notable performances were by the characters of Lucius Malfoy and Lockhart. Jason Isaacs plays the role of the mean and evil Lucius Malfoy who is also the father of Harry’s enemy at school, Draco Malfoy. The character of Lockhart, played by Kenneth Branagh, provides some much needed humor to the movie, this role was first supposed to be played by Hugh Grant.

Some really good casting also leads to the movies success. Kenneth Branagh, who plays the role of the egomaniac Lockhart, and is extremely funny and plays his role really well. This role was first supposed to be played by Hugh Grant but was then passed onto Kenneth Branagh who made the most of his opportunity. Another, notable performance is by Jason Isaacs, who acts as the prejudiced and highly racist Lucius Malfoy.

Though the movie was a big success, one character that played a big role in the success of the first and second movie passed away before the movie’s premiere. Actor Richard Harris, who played the role of the Hogwarts Headmaster Dumbledore, is no longer with us and his, is a tragic loss for Harry Potter fans around the world, as he was best suited for this crucial role. It won’t be easy for a new actor to take up this role as the expectations will be very high.
