Gossip Girl is a drama television series that airs on the American television network the CW and is based on the book series, Gossip Girl, written by Cecily von Ziegesar. There are nine regular speaking roles in the cast of Gossip Girl, all of which were adapted from the book. The main character and protagonist of the show is Serena van der Woodsen, played by Blake Lively, and is described and known as an “it girl.” Dan Humphrey, played by Penn Badgley, is sort of an outsider, writer, and straight guy who becomes part of the Manhattan crew. Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester, is at the top of Manhattan’s social scene. Nate Archibald, played by Chace Crawford, is wealthy and perfect; he is considered the “Golden Boy” of the Upper East Side. Chuck Bass, played by Ed Westwick, is the antihero and somewhat of the shows antagonist, who is always womanizing and has a troubled past.

The first episode only obtained 3.65 million viewers, which put it in last place for viewer numbers for its time slot, 9:00 pm Wednesday night. However, the series lost viewers during its second season due to strong competition from shows like Bionic Woman on NBC and Private Practice on ABC. The third season is also down to just two million viewers, making ratings fall.

Upon its premier, Gossip Girl received mixed reviews. It was a highly anticipated show for the 2007 season because of it being based on a New York Times best selling novel, but was later called a “guilty pleasure” rather than must-watch television by many reviewers and critics. Although it has received some negative reviews for not following the novel, Cecily von Ziegesar, author of Gossip Girl, has vocally supported the show. Initial negative responses changed somewhat over the course of the show’s first season, and critical response had drastically improved by the second season.

Nathan\’s half brother Lucas is also inherited the talent in basketball but he is not seen in the school playground. Nathan falls in love with a beautiful blonde cheerleader of the same school Peyton Sawyer. On the other hand as Peyton had lost her mother when she was a child she knows the pains of a child of a single parent and felt sympathetic for Lucas, later this feeling is turned out to be a romantic one. This intimacy increased the tension between Nathan and Lucas.

The basketball coach of the school Whitey discovers the talent in Lucas and wants him to join the school team but Lucas turns down the offer. Apart from going to school Lucas works at the garage of Keith, big brother of Dan Scott, who has been like a guardian to Lucas and Karen after Dan left them. Keith also feels for Karen in his mind.

Nathan challenges Lucas to a one-on-one game with a specific condition. If he wins then Lucas has to withdraw from the school basketball team. Lucas didn\’t accept the challenge. But later on he changes his mind and places his condition to Nathan that if he wins then he will get Peyton.

After a tough game Lucas comes as the winner. The next episode shows Lucas playing his first game as a member of the team. His mother didn\’t show up in the field as she was eager to avoid Dan. Lucas performed badly and thinks of leaving the team. On this note Nathan teases Lucas by saying his inability as a player which hurts Peyton. Later on Karen told Lucas why she was absent in the match. Karen also makes Lucas understand not to quit. Another team member Jake, tells Lucas not to give up to Nathan and Dan. Lucas changes his decision. Lucas was seen taking the winning shot in the next game. Being enraged Nathan starts to heckle Lucas. Even if he kidnaps Lucas with his friends and threatens him to quit he fails miserably, without much affect on Lucas.

There is a strong belief that Walt Disney and Hayao Miyazaki are masters of the same genre but born at different times. We have seen some beautiful animated films from the hands of Miyazaki like Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away. Ponyo, however, is a major disappointment. There are a lot of loopholes in the plot and other deficiencies too which make this movie look really bad. Ponyo is actually an anime which might bore the young teens after a few minutes. It will be enjoyed by the kids only.

The film is loosely based on \”The Little Mermaid\” by Hans Christian Anderson. The film is about a goldfish which yearns to become a girl so that he can live with the human boy with whom she has fallen in love. A simple story of love that should have been made in to a great movie.

Mr. Miyazaki totally disappoints with this movie. It is hard to believe that he is the same man who directed classics like \”Spirited Away\” and \”Howl\’s Moving Castle\”. Ponyo is nowhere these great films and one wonders why Mr Miyazaki erred while making Ponyo. The animation is good but nothing to write about and we fear the audience might lose interest after the initial 30 minutes or so.

The script of the film, Ponyo should have been well-written. The film lacks punch because of a weak script. Ponyo is one such glaring example. But there are some scenes which show signs of brilliance. There is a scene in which we see Ponyo taking a human form and running along a huge wave that resembles a giant fish. This one should be liked a by all. But a disappointment still lingers – he was definitely capable of making a better film than what Ponyo really is.

Ponyo (voiced by Noah Cyrus) is a baby fish who lives with her father (Liam Neeson), a magical sea guardian. She decides to leave her father and home behind to explore more of the world. In her little adventures she falls into a trash and is swept ashore. She is picked up by Sosuke (Frankie Jonas), a five year old boy. The two becomes friendly and starts liking each other. One day, by accident, she tastes a drop of Sosuke\’s blood and she get changed to a little girl. Her father makes all kind of attempts to stop the changes but fails in every effort. Ponyo, on the other hand, is determined and breaks free from all of them. She heads for the surface.

Nature started to act strange as soon as Ponyo headed towards the surface. The tides were rising and the moon was drawing surprisingly closer. The reasons are not known. Aliens in the Attic movie is a family oriented movie set in Michigan but originally shot in New Zealand. This movie has two parts to it. The digital effects are good and the cast is athletic, which helps make the action a bit more believable. The movie is based on alien invading Earth. The characters are both funny and appealing.

Care has been taken not to make the aliens look mechanical in their appearance. They speak in English. Their children Carter Jenkins (who is a brainy child but fails in math), Ashley Tisdale (who has an annoying, creepy boyfriend Robert Hoffman) and Ashley Boettcher (whose role in the movie is to look adorable) accompany them on this trip. Joining them are their relatives, who form another family, which consists of the dad (Andy Richter) who is a beer drinker, a grandmother who is off centered (Doris Roberts), a male teen (Austin Butler) and a pair of identical twins (Henri and Regan Young).

A meteor shower hits the house\’s attic and leaves four tiny aliens behind in it, disrupting their vacation. The aliens want to destroy man-kind by turning adult humans in to robots that are remotely controlled. They accomplish this, by injecting the adults in the neck, then implanting a device through which the adults brain and movements can be remote controlled. The implant is ineffective on children so they are spared. It is now up to the children to protect the adults and to the save the world.

Robert Hoffman is one of the first adults to get implanted. His remote control finds its way in to the children\’s hands who take advantage of it to make Robert slap himself, dance, twist, jerk and flip his body and then cannonball himself in to many embarrassing situations. One of the most interesting scenes in the movie is a kung-fu style, full contact fight scene between Robert and Doris.

Since Sid does not have a she-sloth to live with, he decides to raise three \’abandoned\’ eggs as his own. He was unaware of the fact that the eggs belonged to a T-Rex dinosaur. As soon as the babies hatch they display mammal eating tactics. The mother T-Rex arrives on the scene soon enough and grab hold of Sid and the babies by the neck and takes them to an underground world that is full of other dinosaurs, a weasel named Buck and several man-eating and dangerous plants.

Then the real adventure begins with Manny and other running to save Sid. This part of the animated film is the most addictive with lots of fun element and action thrown in. You can see a lot of adorable baby dinos and the scenes are depicted in vibrant colors which create a visual extravaganza for the audience. We come across some particulars which are previously seen in the earlier versions like balancing rocks and rushing water.

Scrat, the squirrel, continues to run after the elusive acorn. But in this movie he finds a worthy rival in the form of a female squirrel, Scratte. There is also a bit of romance between the two squirrels which further enhances the quality of the movie.
