Public Enemies movie starring Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Marion Cottilard is directed by Michael Mann. If you want to watch a low key, slightly off beat movie, then this is the perfect movie for you. But, do not expect too much from the film.

The Public Enemies movie centers around the most famous outlaw in the 1930s, a notorious bank robber called John Dillinger and examines his fall from grace. The film attempts to show this in a romantic light. As expected, Johnny Depp portrays the character of Dillinger excellently. He adds so much feeling to Dillingers story thanks to his onscreen charisma. Christian Bale on the other hand delivers a pretty good job of playing an FBI agent, Melvin Plus, who is in charge of capturing Dillinger.

Right from the beginning till the end, John Dillinger has an aura of loyalty, skill and confidence which makes him the center of attention of many eyes. Initially, he is separated from his gang, but he rejoins them later and plans and executes some really thorough but rapid thefts in as little time as two minutes! When Dillinger doesn’t rob the people who are there in the bank hes robbing, you like him just a little more.

The main aspect of the Public Enemies movie is the FBI formation and how one Mr.Hoover (who is portrayed by Billy Crudup) sets his highest priority as nabbing John Dillinger to prove a point to political doubters. He is the one who gives Purvis(Christian Bale) responsibility for bringing Dillinger down. Hoover seems to prefer newer and more scientifically advanced techniques to capture John Dillinger, but the audience soon realizes that only a combination of both these modern techniques as well as old school methods can help to capture someone like Dillingers caliber.

The Public enemies movie shows both the glory days of John Dillinger and the days of his fall effectively. There are times when you actually feel sorry for his fall thanks to Depps marvelous performance. There is a lot of exciting gunfire scenes and blood and gore, but this movies best part is the way the director handles the character of John Dillinger.

The director has done a splendid job depicting both the contrasting times of John Dillingers life ” his rise to fame and his fall from it. Since Depp does a sensational job playing John Dillinger, particular scenes in the movie leave you feeling sorry for him even though he is the villain of the piece. There is plenty of blood, gore and authentic gunfire fighting sequences in the Public enemies movie, but what stands out the most in the direction is the way John Dillingers character is portrayed.
